Google “stop snoring” and you will get over 1 000 000 results for your search. The stop snoring market is a huge business. That is why people often get completely confused and overwhelmed when they look for snoring cures for them and have to decide which of the snoring remedies or devices should they select from this huge market. I will represent one snoring remedy, snoring nasal strips, to see if it’s right for you.
What are snoring nasal strips?
There are many different types and brands of nasal strips but the most common are small bands of plastic embedded in an adhesive. They don’t require a prescription, unlike most of the anti snoring remedies do, so are available directly from the counter at most drug stores. They are disposable and are very reasonably priced.
The way they work:
These strips keep your nostrils open to give you possibility to breathe easily. They are drug-free, mechanical devices specially designed for this purpose. Before going to sleep, these snoring strips are placed across the nose. They have to be worn overnight. The strips attempt to straighten, which lifts the sides of the nose, giving you possibility air to flow more freely.
Can they be the right solution for you?
The answer is, “it depends.” If you often suffer from stuffy nose or allergies, then they may work just fine for you. Snoring nasal strips might not be the best possible solution if your snoring is caused by chronic condition in nature like a deviated septum or nasal polyps. By their very nature they are a temporary fix, best suited to a temporary condition.
If your snoring does not come from your nose, then snoring nasal strips can provide no help for you. They are absolutely ineffective against the snoring caused by the vibration of the tissues of the soft palate and uvula.
In the case of heavy snoring, snoring nasal strips will probably be almost ineffective even if snoring comes from your nose. They work best for moderate snoring.
